FROM DAWN TO DUSK AT HARBOUR RIDGE!

PALM CITY, FLORIDA, 2015.  -
Harbour Ridge Yacht and Country Club hosted Marathon Golf on Wednesday, May 27th to support incredible children’s charities including The First Tee, Place of Hope, Toys for Tots, The Special Olympics, SOS Children’s Villages, The George Snow Scholarship Fund and The Unicorn Children’s Foundation.

Their Marathon Golf Charity campaign was part of a larger event hosted by the Club Managers’ Association of America, which spans the East Coast of Florida from the Florida Keys to Vero Beach. For 25 years, Florida’s Seminole Region of the Club Managers’ Association of America (CMAA) has held their annual “Best Ball Charity Golf Tournament” raising millions of dollars for children’s charities throughout Florida. And for the past four years, “Marathon Golf” has been an integral part of its success. Last year alone, Marathon Golf raised $144,000 of the tournament’s $500,000 grand total. The concept is simple: golfers team up to play as many holes as possible in one day, having generated pledges for each hole played.  This year 13 Teams signed up to play nine participating clubs.  The entire event culminates with the Best Ball Tournament and Grand Gala at Boca West Country Club on June 8. Gary Collins, Marathon Golf Committee Chair stated this year’s goal is to raise at least $200,000.

As part of his efforts to expand the number of Clubs participating, Gary Collins reached out to Harbour Ridge’s Membership and Marketing Director, Lauren Pahl. She and General Manager, Michael Salerno, were thrilled with the opportunity to bring this incredible charity event to Harbour Ridge Yacht and Country Club, making them the first Treasure Coast Club to participate! Lauren and Suzy Duffy, Marketing Communications Manager, worked together to communicate the event and its great cause to Club members of Harbour Ridge and ensure the Team was excited for the big day. The entire Club Staff was happy to lend support and prep the Team, from tips on training, heat exhaustion and staying hydrated from the Fitness Staff, to food and refreshments from the Culinary Team the day of the event, everyone jumped in to support their Marathon Team. Head Golf Professional Rob Dauk has served the Club for 20 years and was on hand from dawn to dusk to lend support and encouragement, as well.

Harbour Ridge’s Marathon Team was composed of four Staff members – Kyle Tiller, Sean Knott, Tom Copper and Robert Romo. All four were thrilled to support their Club and community by participating in the event. They started playing golf at 6:30 am on Wednesday, May 27th and did not finish playing until the sun went down. Combined, they played an amazing 581 holes in one day!

To support their Marathon Team’s campaign to raise money for children’s charities, Club members, Staff and local supporters donated flat fees or pledged a dollar amount per hole. Harbour Ridge’s members really got into the event and sent encouraging emails and notes of support beforehand. The day of the event, the sense of community and support was incredible. Several Club members came out to cheer the team on and brought refreshments to keep them going!
Harbour Ridge Yacht and Country Club prides itself on giving back to the community and this, paired with their focus on fitness and a new LifeStyle Center on the way, made Marathon Golf’s “Fore the Community” charity campaign a perfect fit for their Club and community. Their Marathon Team proudly raised over $15,000 in its inaugural year and donations for this great cause are still coming in.

Harbour Ridge Yacht and County Club is a private gated community on 885-acres. It features two award-winning golf courses, 10 Har-Tru tennis courts and a marina with 98 boat slips. A new Lifestyle Center is in the works and will feature a salon and spa, spin rooms, increased cardio and training space and much more. All of these amenities are being constructed without special assessments to the Club’s members. The Board of Directors, management and staff, along with the members, are all dedicated to maintaining their commitment to financial soundness and providing an active, healthy lifestyle in a luxurious setting, enabling members to enrich their quality of life.
